Why Unbridled Courage
There is no doubt that the Western genre is in a resurgence.
We want to make a film that will show the untold story of the Old West and excite a new generation of fans.
Although classics like “True Grit”, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”, and “Once Upon a Time in the West” remain some of our favorite films, tales of female heroism often fade into the background of history books and Hollywood films in service of male centeredness. Unbridled Courage helps redefine the genre by exploring the lives of women in the American West.
We plan to shoot in the summer of 2024 in Texas, with an anticipated release date of March 2025.
We are raising $50,000 in Development Funds

Meet the Characters
Audrey Byrne gladly left her sophisticated Philadelphia life behind to start a family on her husband’s family land in Texas, but as her children came of age, Texas also matured and she is able to convince her family that San Antonio would be a great new home; a city in Texas that is within a day’s journey to the Byrne Ranch in Marble Creek. Suddenly faced with the loss of her husband and his father, she and her children become the heirs to Byrne Ranch and Audrey has to figure out how to navigate life as a ranch owner and raise her children with the same standards she experienced in the city. But as they say, life has other plans. Audrey walks a tightrope of putting
aside her feelings for a man trying to help her defend the ranch and being a role model for her children, but when Garrett and his men show no mercy, she defends her family’s ranch as if she was born to.
beau hannigan is the outcast son of Malcolm Hannigan, one of Marble Creek’s founders; along with Garrett Knox. He’s never wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, in fact the only reason he’s back in town is on official business as a Pinkerton Detective. He is immediately charmed by Audrey and her children, even as he fights with his father about his assoiciation with Garrett. The disappointment between father and son goes both ways and can be traced back to the death of his mother -- but neither will admit it. Beau’s new life as a man of justice, lines up perfectly with his interest in Audrey, but first he’ll have to trust his father’s insistence that he is not part of Garrett’s destructive plan.
garrett knox is Marble Creek’s largest landowner; once a stalwart in the community as a founder, he’s now old and fearful of progress because he doesn’t understand it, so now the only thing he knows to do is to take control of his much land as possible and he does this through the veiled threats of his mysterious band of outlaws, The Black Riders.
julia hill is the co-proprietor of the Marble Creek General Store with her her husband Abraham, in many ways she is an inspiration to Audrey; a black woman who holds her own in town and runs the business alongside her husband -- not in his shadow. She’s a good friend to Audrey; one of the few she can count on for an unfiltered assessment of things.
